Ray has an extensive background and leadership experience in large scale agriculture and horticulture. He grew up working in the family farm equipment business and earned a B.S. degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Auburn University, specializing in nursery crop production. Farming is deeply entrenched in Ray’s family, including their involvement in the Crop Rotation Experiment at Auburn University - the longest ongoing ag experiment in the world starting in the 1880s and demonstrating that with proper crop rotations sustainable agriculture is possible. It is still one of the most productive acres in the state.
Ray has been a propagator and a grower, as well as managed operations, sales and product development for some of the largest and most successful operations in the world. For the last 12 years he managed product development under contract for The Home Depot in the US and Canada. This resulted in global travel to coordinate products with breeders, growers and the retailer to bring over one billion dollars in retail sales to the market annually. At FRB, Ray embraces the opportunity to bring precision agriculture, crop expertise and good farm practices to hemp farmers, moving into the next era of farming and horticulture.
